Customize Web Poll URL - Use Custom Domain or Subdomain Name

For an additional fee, WebsiteGear allows you to use your own domain or subdomain name for the web poll code. The customized URL will be visible in your web poll account view under "Web Poll Account Settings". Contact WebsiteGear support for enabling custom URL.
Additional setup needed on your DNS server

The web poll URL can be customized to any other subdomain or domain name instead of poll.websitegear.com. In order to change the url, the DNS setting for the domain has to be modified to point the domain or subdomain to poll.websitegear.com. An example is shown below
Enter a new CNAME entry in your DNS servers to point to poll.websitegear.com
Domain name example:
---------------------------
yourdomain.com CNAME poll.websitegear.com
Subdomain example:
-------------------------
subdomain.yourdomain.com CNAME poll.websitegear.com
where "yourdomain.com" is your domain name and "subdomain" is the subdomain you want to use.
Then test the domain or subdomain settings in your web browser by going to http://yourdomain.com or http://subdomain.yourdomain.com, and see if the WebsiteGear web poll homepage loads. If not, you have some problem with your DNS settings.
If the above works, replace the old poll code with the new code from your web poll account for each poll. This poll code will contain the new URL.
Note: You cannot use the customized domain or subdomain with secure HTTPS (https:) because that will require SSL certificates installed on our servers. Contact us for any questions.
