Customize Link Tracking URL - Use Custom Domain or Subdomain Name
|
The tracking URL can be customized to any other subdomain or domain name instead of click.websitegear.com. In order to change the tracking url, the DNS setting for the domain has to be modified to point the domain or subdomain to click.websitegear.com. An example is shown below
Enter a new CNAME entry in your DNS servers to point to click.websitegear.com
Domain name example:
---------------------------
yourdomain.com CNAME click.websitegear.com
Subdomain example:
-------------------------
subdomain.yourdomain.com CNAME click.websitegear.com
where "yourdomain.com" is your domain name and "subdomain" is the subdomain you want to use.
Then test the domain or subdomain settings in your web browser by going to http://yourdomain.com or http://subdomain.yourdomain.com, and see if the WebsiteGear click tracking homepage loads. If not, you have some problem with your DNS settings.
If the above works, replace the url of the tracking code from click.websitegear.com to yourdomain.com or subdomain.yourdomain.com.
Example:

WebsiteGear Tracking URL: http://click.websitegear.com/track/xxx
Customized Tracking URL: http://subdomain.yourdomain.com/track/xxx
Similar customized URL will work for the conversion code as well. Do test the customized URL with a test link before changing the live tracking URLs.
Note: You cannot use the customized code with secure HTTPS (https:) because that will require domain specific SSL certificates installed on our servers. Contact us for any questions.
